FLORENCE TOWNSHIP, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – The St. Joseph County Sheriff’s Office has arrested a 43-year-old Centreville man on several charges after he tried to steal a vehicle in Florence Township on Tuesday.
Deputies were called to the home in the 62000 block of Wahl Road on a report of a suspect trying to steal a vehicle from the driveway and he quickly ran away when they arrived.
The suspect was arrested after a short foot chase and was taken to the Sturgis Emergency Room for a mental evaluation.
He will be charged with unlawful driving away of an automobile, fleeing and eluding police, and resisting and obstructing police. His name has not been released.
