KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Adam Lyons is now facing a murder charge among other counts for allegedly killing a woman and her dog in Climax Saturday.
Lyons was before a Kalamazoo County judge Tuesday and was charged with murder, killing an animal, and two counts of felony firearms. He faces a life in prison without parole sentence if convicted.
Lyons called police Saturday evening from the home on North Main Street saying he was going to kill himself and he had already shot and killed someone.
Nichole Doerschler was found with a gunshot wound to her head inside the home and the dog had also been shot in the head.
Lyons was found armed with two firearms and several others were found on the property.
Bail was denied for him and he is due back in court November 7 for a probable cause conference.
The Kalamazoo County Prosecutor’s Office is not aware of any protective order from Doerschler against Lyons.
