LANSING, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Michigan Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson is being sued by the Michigan Republican Party for allegedly violating state election law.
The GOP says the Republican National Committee Election Integrity staff witnessed several mail-in ballots being counted despite having missing stub numbers, which are an election security safeguard to ensure the correct ballot is being cast.
They say those ballots must be rejected by local clerks and election workers, and that voters are given the chance to vote again within three days of the election.
The lawsuit claims Benson issued guidance to process the ballots as “challenged” instead of “rejected.”
