THREE RIVERS, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Three Rivers police have arrested a carjacking suspect who is accused of stealing a car and assaulting someone in Kalamazoo County.
The theft happened Saturday and the man drove off to St. Joseph County.
A St. Joseph County Sheriff’s Office deputy located the stolen vehicle using an automated license plate reader system called Flock and tried to stop him to no avail.
The suspect fled, hit another occupied vehicle and drove through yards before crashing and running off.
A K-9 was unable to find the man, and the sheriff’s office’s marine patrol and drone aerial team also wasn’t able to find him near the Portage River.
He was arrested after someone called 9-1-1 a few hours later when they saw him.
