KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – The Kalamazoo County Prosecutor’s Office has charged 24-year-old Toby Knight with setting fires on Sherwood Avenue and Humphrey Street on August 28.
Knight is charged with arson of a dwelling, arson of personal property, breaking and entering with intent, receiving and concealing stolen property of a vehicle, fleeing and eluding police, and larceny in a building.
He is being held on a $200,000 cash bond.
Knight faces years in prison if convicted.
He was arrested last Thursday.
Knight allegedly stole around $10,000 worth of tools from a business in the 1300 block of King Highway on August 28 as well as setting the fires.
Kalamazoo Public Safety responded to the home in the 1700 block of Humphrey Street at 1:36 a.m. on August 28 and were called to the 1100 block of Sherwood Avenue at 1:44 a.m.
The fire on Humphrey Street was brought under control within 15 minutes, and it took about 45 minutes to get the second fire under control on Sherwood Avenue.
