KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM – The Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety has arrested a suspect in connection with a Saturday morning bank robbery.
The individual, a 36-year-old male and resident of Kalamazoo, is scheduled to be arraigned Monday.
Just before 10:00 a.m. Saturday KDPS responded to a report of a bank robbery in the 3100 block of Portage Street. They say the suspect entered the bank and demanded money from the teller. After an altercation, the suspect forcibly took cash from the teller’s desk and fled the scene on foot.
The suspect later got into a sedan and took off at a high speed northbound on Fulford Street from Miller Road.
KDPS officers, including a K9 unit, conducted an extensive search, and late Saturday afternoon they announced the suspect had been apprehended.
