KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Construction around the new Kalamazoo event center and arena downtown is causing traffic issues for people who live in the area, but the city is promising the work will be worth it.
Public Works manager and traffic engineer Dennis Randolph says some of the work is swapping out old water, storm, and sewer system parts that need to be upgraded for the $300-million arena.
He says it also is aligning with the work to convert Michigan and Kalamazoo avenues from one-way to two-way in a few years.
Park Street is expected to be reopened by mid-November, and parts of Westnedge Avenue that have been closed are expected to be back open by the end of November.
