KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – With a number of seats up for grabs in November, the Michigan Transformation Collective will host a Kalamazoo Public Schools Board of Education candidate forum next week.
The forum is scheduled for Tuesday, September 24 from 5:30-7:30 p.m. in the Van Deusen Room at the Kalamazoo Public Library, 313 North Rose Street.
Organizers say candidates running for the Board of Education will discuss issues facing students, parents and other stakeholders. The student moderated, non-partisan forum is the only one to be held before voting begins.
The forum will focus on education justice issues such as literacy, school discipline policies, and student mental health. Interested attendees can submit a question upon registration or in-person during the forum.
Candidates scheduled to attend are Nate Anderson, Jennifer Dayton, Todd Ellis, Michael Harrison, Takisha Johnson, Jay’Don Kelley, and Juanita Yvonne Payton. Organizers say Carol McGlinn is unable to attend but will provide a statement.
