LANSING, MI — University of Michigan Health-Sparrow Children’s Center is celebrating a milestone this weekend as it hosts the 10th annual Hair-a-Thon on Saturday at the Herbert-Herman Cancer Center, 1140 E. Michigan Ave., Lansing.
This heartwarming and inspiring event features hair donated by community members that is then used to create free wigs for children and adolescents who have lost their locks due to cancer treatment or for other reasons. The Hair-a-Thon takes place this Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until noon. Walk-ins are welcome and no appointment is necessary.
The Hair-a-Thon coincides with Childhood Cancer Awareness Month. It also features a bone marrow registry drive, which gives those aged 18-40 the chance to potentially provide lifesaving help to a patient battling a serious disease.
