KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – One Kalamazoo County commissioner is calling it the biggest thing to happen around here since the downtown Kalamazoo arena announcement.
Last night, the Kalamazoo County board approved a brownfield grant for Landscape Forms in Comstock, which plans to expand its operation on East Michigan Avenue.
They plan to create about 125 new positions over the next three years.
Here is company CFO Jodi Havera.
County vice chair John Taylor says it’s a big deal, and he hopes to hear from other firms planning to expand.
The Comstock Township board approved the firm’s brownfield resolution on Monday.
The firm makes park benches, lighting systems, bike racks and other outdoor furniture for parks, industrial and college campuses and some residential uses.
The county action is part of an incentive package that includes other local and state inducements.
