BATTLE CREEK, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – City officials in Battle Creek are proposing modernizing and upgrading their fire stations.
City Manager Rebecca Fleury says the firefighters deserve better facilities and they are looking at merging Station 3 with Station 1 and building a new Station 2.
The rest of the city’s three stations would be upgraded and renovated.
She says their fire stations are in desperate need of upgrades.
Fleury says the modernization and upgrading of the city’s fire stations will cost $30-million.
She adds Station 2 and Station 3 are both over 100 years old and can no longer meet the department’s needs.
