MARENGO TOWNSHIP, MI (WNWN/WTVB) – A Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office K-9 assisted in the arrest of an Illinois man on Saturday night.
The Sheriff’s Office says they were dispatched to the area of westbound I-94 near Partello Road for an erratic driver.
A K-9 Deputy was in the area and located the vehicle. The suspect vehicle initially failed to stop but it eventually pulled over.
A K-9 alerted to the odor of narcotics in the vehicle. After the alert, a search of the vehicle was conducted, and deputies located numerous bags of suspected narcotics believed to be fentanyl and heroin.
The suspected narcotics appeared to be packaged for individual sales.
The 25-year-old driver was arrested for possession of narcotics with intent to distribute and failing to stop for a police signal. He is lodged at the Calhoun County Jail.
