KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – State House Republicans have introduced a package of bills they say would address shortfalls on school spending in the upcoming fiscal year.
Minority Leader Matt Hall of Richland joined Kalamazoo Mornings on WKZO with Ken Lanphear to discuss the plan.
He says they have seen data over the past few years showing Michigan students are lagging behind other states on reading and math.
He says that would allow students to take a skilled trades class or computer class in place of Algebra 2.
Republicans are hoping to retake the majority in the state House in November in order to get the bills passed next year.
