BATTLE CREEK, MI (WNWN/WTVB) – City contractors have begun construction work at Claude Evans Park in Battle Creek.
In addition to new parking lots, the improvement project will deliver a new cul-de-sac at the south end of Hanover Street, a retention pond for storm water, and additional lighting and cameras for enhanced safety.
The park will remain open during construction, with minor diversions. A portion of the existing parking lot on Helen Montgomery Avenue will be closed, and residents on Hanover Street will need to take alternate routes to access the park.
Driveway access for residents should not be obstructed, and the city will notify residents in advance if Republic Services’ yard waste, recycling, and garbage pickups will be impacted during construction.
As a reminder, the park’s splash pad is now closed for the season, as well.
Work hours during the improvement project will generally be 7:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m. Monday-Friday with occasional work on Saturdays.
The bulk of construction is expected to wrap up by November 30, 2024.
