KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – The school year has just begun, and already there has been a school shooting in Georgia. They plan to prosecute 14-year-old Colt Gray as an adult for killing two students and two teachers Wednesday, and wounding nine others.
They have now charged his father, Colin Gray, with multiple counts for allowing the boy to have the semi-automatic rifle he allegedly used.
Kalamazoo Public Schools trustees held a moment of silence at their meeting last night.
Board Vice President Carol McGlinn says more needs to be done to prevent such tragedies.
Superintendent Dr. Darrin Slade says any student who even threatens such behavior verbally, on social media, or any other way will face severe penalties.
Dr. Slade says that and many other rules, policies and expectations will be the subject of a series of face to face sessions with parents and students he plans to begin next week.
