KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Dedication ceremonies are planned for Saturday at the new Judge Charles A. Pratt Justice Center in Kalamazoo.
The new courthouse has been open for months. They wanted to make sure they had worked out all the bugs and could line up some impressive speakers for the ceremony.
County Administrator Kevin Catlin expects a number of local and state elected officials to be on hand for the event, which will be open to the public.
The event will take place from 10 a.m. to noon.
The courthouse is being named to memorialize Kalamazoo’s first Black judge, who was elected in 1968 and retired 12 years later.
Residents will be able to tour the $91-million facility after the ceremonies.
