KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Is there a serial arsonist loose in Kalamazoo? A series of fires has some wondering.
The blazes have mostly occurred in vacant and abandoned buildings, and they are considered suspicious because without utilities, there are few ways those structures would burn otherwise.
The most recent occurred yesterday morning downtown when a vacant commercial building caught fire on East Water Street.
Last night, Mayor Dave Anderson thanked the public safety officers who responded and sent a message to whoever may be doing this.
Last night, county commissioner Jen Strebs noted that one of the buildings belonged to a friend.
Reward money is always available for anyone who reports an arsonist in Kalamazoo. Investigators are working on the case.
