KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Kalamazoo Public Safety officials are investigating an increase in house fires over the past few months.
Fire Marshal Scott Brooks says they want people to know they are investigating all of the fires thoroughly and adds their focus is ensuring safety and preventing more.
Brooks says they are thankful no one has been injured by the fires.
The department is asking residents from areas around the recent fires from June through now to review security camera footage for any suspicious activity.
Silent Observer is offering a reward up to $1,000 for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of people responsible for starting the fires.
They battled two fires at vacant homes near each other early yesterday morning on Humphrey Street and Sherwood Avenue, putting out the flames on Humphrey in about 15 minutes, but the second home was destroyed.
KDPS is also investigating fires June 11 and 18, July 4, and August 20 and 24.
