PORTAGE, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – As temperatures are expected to soar into the mid-90’s with Heat Index readings as high as 105 degrees Tuesday, several area school districts are planning on early releases for students to get them out of buildings before the worst of the heat.
The National Weather Service has issued a Heat Advisory for southwest Michigan from 10:00 a.m through 10:00 p.m. Tuesday.
Comstock Public Schools will only have a half day Tuesday, while Portage Public Schools will send students home early from buildings that don’t have air conditioning. Amberly Elementary, Angling Road Elementary, Moorsbridge Elementary, Haverhill Elementary, Central Elementary and Woodland Elementary will dismiss at 12:00 p.m. Community High School will dismiss at 10:55 a.m.
Martin Public Schools will dismiss at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday.
