LANSING, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – The Trump campaign in Michigan is making their stance on the southern border clear – illegal immigration is impacting communities across Michigan.
State Senate Minority Leader Aric Nesbitt recently visited the southern border and said those patrolling are asking for two things.
They cite an average of 5,000 illegal immigrants being released in the U.S. every day, in which sheriffs gave examples of some of those serious crimes committed within the state.
Van Buren County Sheriff Daniel Abbott gave four examples of how problems at the southern border impacted their community, including this one.
Sheriff Abbott pointed out that rural communities are seeing an influx of serious crimes, not just small misdemeanors.
As part of the press conference, other sheriffs from across the state told similar stories of how illegal immigration has impacted their communities.
