LANSING, MI — As part of an ongoing push around renewable energy, General Motors says it is entering into a15-year renewable energy purchase agreement with NorthStar Clean Energy.
The carmaker says NorthStar’s Solar project in Newport, Ark., will support the electricity needs of its Lansing Delta Township Assembly and Lansing Grand River Assembly plants by adding renewable energy directly to the grid these facilities source from.
This is the company’s largest power purchase deal yet, according to GM, and an important milestone in the goal to be carbon neutral by 2040. In 2022, GM previously announced the finalization of energy sourcing agreements required to secure 100% of the energy needed to power all U.S. sites with renewable electricity by end of 2025.
