KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Following a Friday shooting on Interfaith Boulevard that left a 13-year-old in critical condition, Kalamazoo Mayor Dave Anderson is calling on the men of the city to be better examples and better mentors.
Anderson says the city commission is notified by public safety when these community tragedies take place, and he says they feel each one personally.
He says it’s important that adults transmit a sense of community and opportunity to the city’s youngsters.
He says it may be just the kid next door, a relative or someone you have regular contact with, but they need to be encouraged.
He says the commission can only do so much, and they certainly can’t do it alone.
