PORTAGE, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – The city of Portage has submitted documents in support of an appeal by Governor Whitmer of the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s denial of federal help for the May 7 EF-2 tornado.
FEMA officials said the damage done by the tornado did not meet the threshold for disaster assistance from Washington.
The city sent information from property owners to the state to give a more accurate assessment of the damage caused.
The state has until September 21 to file the appeal.
