KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – A Kalamazoo church, Baptism USA, says they will hold a protest on the steps of the state Capitol Saturday afternoon calling for the resignation of Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel.
Reverend William Stein says they will present evidence of alleged state and federal law violations by Nessel.
Stein alleges state employees and at least one member of the media in west Michigan have “obstructed their mission to worship and provide crucial resources for vulnerable populations for over two decades.”
Nessel sued Stein and several of the church’s charities for alleged violations of the Michigan Charitable Organizations and Solicitations Act. The reverend claims they are exempt from the act and says he will present a letter from 2002 from the Attorney General’s office that exempts his church and charities from needing to secure a permit.
The rally will be from 3:00-5:00 p.m. in Lansing.
I thought churches were not allowed to make any statements about politics or they lose their tax exempt status?
Beautiful. She is over stepping the legal boundaries
MI AG Dana Nessel is an awesome attorney general in Michigan!!! She doesn’t have to worry with the likes of Stein.
