KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Three months after a series of tornadoes swept through southwest Michigan causing massive damage in the Portage area, Kalamazoo County escaped relatively unscathed Tuesday morning as a series of fast moving storms move through the state.
The Road Commission of Kalamazoo County was called out for several downed trees on roads, but in St. Joseph County, Three Rivers was especially hard hit, with the roof torn off a manufacturing facility in the 1500 block of North Main Street. No injuries were reported.
The National Weather Service issued Tornado Warnings for portions of Cass and Branch counties, as well as all of St. Joseph County shortly before 9:00 a.m. Tuesday.
Flooded streets were reported in both Kalamazoo and Paw Paw, with the majority of the Consumers Energy power outages reported in St. Joseph, especially in the Village of Colon.
