KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Kalamazoo city officials will celebrate the completion of a major bridge reconstruction with a ribbon cutting ceremony this Friday.
Work on the Inkster Bridge began in early March. The new bridge is made of concrete, providing two-way traffic for all bridge users with a wider (8 foot) elevated sidewalk that will connect to existing sidewalk in the neighborhood, design elements informed by community input including a natural stone wall base and inset panel bridge railing, and lighting installed on the bridge and below the bridge.
The bridge was finished ahead of schedule, with the original completion date by Labor Day weekend.
The ribbon cutting will be held at 10:30 a.m., with remarks from Mayor David Anderson, City Commissioners, and City staff.
