PORTAGE, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Portage Public Schools teachers will receive a two percent pay raise after the Board of Education approved a new agreement with the Portage Education Association.
The contract has a three-year duration and will expire in June 2027, but there are financial re-openers after the first and second years to re-discuss wages. Last year, the district passed a 4.5% increase to wages in the Portage Education Association contract.
The district says new teachers are usually hired in at Step 3, with that salary to now be $44,147. A teacher with a master’s degree hired in at Step 3 would be paid roughly $46,795 in the new contract.
The highest a teacher can be paid now is $99,479 at Step 30.
