KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Over 300 Consumers Energy crews are busy around the entire state trimming trees that are in danger of falling on power lines and interrupting people’s electricity.
Utility spokesman Brian Wheeler says they have goals of restoring power in no more than 24 hours and cut the size of outages after storms to no more than 100,000 customers.
In addition to the work on trees along 7,000 miles of power lines, Wheeler says they are making other improvements.
Consumers Energy has a reliability roadmap that has helped them identify ways to reduce power outages.
