Pedestrian hit while crossing Portage Street Friday night

KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – A man is in critical condition after being struck by a vehicle in Kalamazoo Friday night.

Around 10:20 p.m., officers with the Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety were sent to the area of Portage Street north of East Cork Street after receiving reports that a pedestrian had been hit.

They found the man unresponsive on the sidewalk. A southbound vehicle hit the man, who was believed to be crossing the road.

He was taken to the hospital and was last listed in critical condition.

KDPS says the driver is cooperating in the investigation.
