KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – A new ad campaign targeting people in Michigan, Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, and Wisconsin has been launched, trying to attract them to visit Kalamazoo.
Discover Kalamazoo unveiled the Wednesday. Set to begin next month, it will feature online videos, billboards, and social media posts targeted at people across the Midwest. The ads were developed in conjunction with the city and county of Kalamazoo, Southwest Michigan First, and Western Michigan University. The current cost is $60,000, but the group could spend more as more revenue comes in.
During the launch event at the State Theatre in Kalamazoo, Southwest Michigan First CEO Jonas Peterson said “Some people say we’re a well-kept secret. We don’t want that to be the case.”
The ads feature local landmarks like Bell’s Brewery and the Barn Theatre. Discover Kalamazoo CEO Jane Ghosh says the theme is showing off aspects of Kalamazoo that out-of-towners might not know about.
The campaign will continue through December.
