KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – In an effort to address complaints from Kalamazoo businesses that road construction is driving customers away, the city this week announced a plan to provide free Metro Connect rides to those affected businesses.
The city is already providing shuttle service for people trying to get to businesses on the Northside that are impacted by construction. The latest businesses covered by the program are:
Midtown Fresh Market
Ace Hardware
Oak Street Health
Everside Health
Happy’s Pizza
Paris Cleaners
PNC Bank
Heilman’s Nuts & Confections
The free Metro Connect service is expected to continue until September 20 or whenever work on Westnedge Avenue wraps up.
Businesses like the Victorian Bakery and Midtown Fresh Market have said their sales have dropped dramatically because shoppers find it too hard to get to their locations.
People interested can call (269)350-2970 to schedule a ride.
