LEROY TOWNSHIP, MI (WNWN/WTVB) – A 71-year-old Battle Creek man lost his life on Wednesday afternoon in a crash at the intersection of M-66 and B Drive South in Calhoun County.
Michigan State Police at the Marshall post say the man who was killed in the crash was driving an eastbound Lincoln SUV that didn’t stop at the intersection’s traffic signal and collided with a transit van that was heading south on M-66.
State Police say the fatal victim was not wearing a seat belt.
A 51-year-old man from East Leroy sustained non-life threatening injuries. Troopers say he seemed to have been wearing a seat belt. The man was taken to Bronson Hospital in Kalamazoo for advanced medical care.
The names of the persons involved in the crash were not released by the State Police. The crash, which remains under investigation, shut down a portion of M-66 for over three hours.
