GRAND RAPIDS, MI (WTVB) – In anticipation of heavy overnight rain, the National Weather Service in Grand Rapids has issued a Flood Watch from 9:00 p.m. Monday night through 4:00 a.m. on Tuesday morning for portions of south central, southwest, and west central Michigan.
The watch includes the counties of Calhoun, Clinton, Eaton, Ingham, Ionia, Jackson, Allegan, Barry, Kalamazoo, Kent, Ottawa, Muskegon and Van Buren.
Forecasters say excessive runoff may result in the flooding of rivers, creeks, streams as well as other low-lying and flood-prone locations.
The recent heavy rain has saturated the soils and resulted in high water levels.
Another round of thunderstorms with locally heavy rain is expected overnight which will increase the risk for flooding.
You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible Flood Warnings. Those living in flood prone areas should be prepared to take action.
