KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – If the kids are getting antsy, or bored and appearing to succumb to the “summer slide” in their academics, there are a couple of positive activities in Kalamazoo this week.
Kalamazoo Public Schools will host their Summer Literacy Kick Off tomorrow afternoon.
KPS student services director Lisa Dewey says it’s more like a festival than a reading event. It will be a lot of fun.
It will be held at Lincoln Elementary School from 4 to 7 p.m.
It had been scheduled for mid-June but was cancelled due to the heat wave.
On Thursday, Kydnet will celebrate National Summer Learning Day with an event downtown.
Brynn Rohde says it’s their biggest event of the year with a number of activities planned.
It will run from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. in Bronson Park.
