Scholten becomes first congressional Democrat from Michigan calling for Biden to withdraw

GRAND RAPIDS, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Congresswoman Hillary Scholten of Grand Rapids has become the first congressional Democrat from Michigan to call for President Biden to not seek another term.

She said Biden “has secured an incredible legacy during his lifetime of public service,” but he needs to “pass the torch to a new candidate for the 2024 election.”

Scholten says if Biden stays in the race, she will support him and vote for him “as a clear and necessary alternative to Donald Trump, who would sow chaos and destruction if he were to return to the Oval Office.”

The President will be in Detroit today.
