KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Kalamazoo Public School trustees have narrowed the list of candidates for an open seat on the school board from nine to three, and will ask their final candidates to interview on Thursday.
Trustees expressed their appreciation not only for the large number of candidates applying, but for the quality of the applicants.
The trustees also tweaked the questions they plan to ask the candidates this Thursday, adding a new one to the list. The board is expected to make their choice after Thursday’s interviews.
Board president Ti’Anna Harrison it’s an important role in the community that needs to be filled.
She repeated her statement to us that no one has an inside track on the position.
Jermaine Jackson had asked that he be replaced by a Black male in his resignation announcement.
Whoever is chosen will fill the remainder of the vacant term, which expires at the end of the year.
