PORTAGE, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – The clean up continues in Portage after a stormy May and June, while the wait continues on whether the May tornado will qualify for FEMA disaster funding.
City Manager Patrick McGinnis says the twister and two subsequent storms have left plenty of branches at the curb for this year’s annual brush pick-ups.
That doesn’t include the hundreds of truck loads already hauled away by private contractors since the May 7th tornado.
City council member Nicole Miller says there could be some help coming from Washington in the form of loans from the Small Business Administration, which will be sending representatives to Portage soon.
Businesses and homeowners may be eligible.
She says watch the city’s website for more information on times and dates.
