KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – The city of Kalamazoo is closing Howard Street from Stadium Drive to West Michigan Avenue for two weeks starting Monday.
The resurfacing project will include a new left turn opening from Howard Street to Rogoski Avenue and the left turn lane from northbound Howard to West Michigan Avenue will become a single left turn lane.
The plastic posts that are currently there will be removed and replaced by a concrete curb and a grassy median island.
One lane will be open in each direction starting Monday, July 29 and the project is expected to be done before Western Michigan University’s fall semester starts.
Howard Street needs to be completely closed for Amtrak to complete significant track improvements at the crossing near Stadium Drive. Stormwater drainage improvements will also be done.
