KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Nine inmates at the Kalamazoo County Jail have completed a new program called IGNITE to help them stay free of crime when they are released.
IGNITE stands for Inmate Growth Naturally and Intentionally Through Education and it began in Genesee County.
Kalamazoo County Sheriff Richard Fuller says they partnered with Urban Alliance and Prevention Works on the program and says the recidivism rates of people who complete the program are much lower.
He says the program allows the inmates to put that life behind them and get jobs.
