KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Public bathrooms in downtown Kalamazoo became a big issue after complaints that houseless residents were using all sorts of inappropriate places to do their business.
Last night several residents demanded an update after commissioners promised two new public restrooms, and neither has materialized.
They say it’s now more important that summer has arrived.
City chief operations officer Laura Lam says they intend to install a second Portland Loo behind city hall.
She says sometimes these things just take longer than you would hope.
She plans to have additional information at the next commission meeting.
