Kalamazoo man sentenced for abusing his young child

KALAMAZOO MI (WKZO AM/FM) – A Kalamazoo man is headed to prison for abusing his young child.

The case stems from May 2023, when Paul Preston admitted that he punched his two-month-old child several times. The child was left with a fractured skull, brain bleeding, fractured ribs, and more.

Preston pleaded guilty to two counts of child abuse and has been sentenced to a minimum of five-years in prison.

The child’s mother, Norene Burkhead, pleaded guilty to child abuse after she failed to report her child’s abuse. She was sentenced to one-day in prison.
