MENDON TOWNSHIP, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – The driver involved in the fatal accident that killed St. Joseph County Assistant Prosecutor Melissa Hallack May 30 has died from the injuries he sustained in the crash.
The St. Joseph County Sheriff’s Office Tuesday identified the man as 24-year-old Logan Nicklas Faust of Reading.
The crash occurred on Silver Street and Pinhook Road in Mendon Township, when police say the vehicle driven by Faust entered the oncoming lane and struck Hallack’s vehicle head-on.
Hallack was pronounced dead at the scene. Faust was transported to Bronson Methodist Hospital in Kalamazoo.
The Sheriff’s Office investigation is continuing. They said at the time alcohol was suspected in the crash but that assessment was disputed by friends and family members in social media posts. Some claimed Faust fell asleep at the wheel.
No criminal charges were filed before Faust passed away.
