PORTAGE, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Consumers Energy says they will provide a free lunch and dinner to community members in the Kalamazoo area to recognize their patience and resilience after tornadoes caused major damage this week.
The lunch and dinner will happen at the Kalamazoo First Assembly of God Church, 5550 Oakland Drive, Portage, Saturday, May 11 from 11:30 a.m.- 1:30 p.m. and 5:30 p.m-7:30 p.m.
The utility says it is thanking customers affected by this week’s tornadoes, which swept through the region Tuesday night and caused over 34,000 power outages. Over 175 Consumers Energy crews worked around the clock to restore power as quickly and safely as possible.
Food trucks will be in the church parking lot, offering a free burrito, quesadillas, tacos, tamales, and hot dog meals with a beverage supplied by Theresa’s Kitchen and Frances Street Hot Dogs food trucks.
