BATTLE CREEK, MI (WNWN/WTVB) – Battle Creek Police are investigating possible animal cruelty charges after a stray dog was shot last Saturday on Lathrop Avenue.
Police say they responded to an animal complaint around 3:00 p.m.. Upon their arrival, officers were informed that a homeowner had shot a stray dog in their backyard.
Officers were able to recover the dog and transport it to the Calhoun County Animal Center, where the staff were able to provide medical attention.
The dog, identified as a Labrador and German Shepherd mix, survived its gun shot.
This incident is still under investigation by the BCPD and no additional information will be shared at this time.
