CALHOUN COUNTY, MI (WNWN/WTVB) – Saying they want to decrease sexually transmitted infections and unplanned pregnancies, the Calhoun County Public Health Department announced on Monday the launch of its condom distribution program called Wear One.
Officials say the Wear One program removes barriers to condom access and promotes acceptance of condom use, especially among those between the ages of 18 and 24.
The Calhoun County Public Health Department will partner with local businesses and organizations to put Wear One condom packs in their restroom facilities at no cost.
Community Public Health Director Lauren Lewandowski says, “Calhoun County experiences disproportionately high rates of STIs. The Wear One program is designed to give community members easy access to free condoms where they live, work, and play and empowers individuals to take control of their sexual health without fear or judgment.”
Over 50 counties across Michigan have participated in the Wear One program, serving over four-point-two million residents.
