EAST LANSING, MI — The wife of former Michigan State University head football coach Mel Tucker alleges in divorce papers filed in Ingham County that her husband has recently moved over a million dollars from one of their joint accounts to pay his defense attorney fees. Tucker was fired as football coach at the school in Sept. 2023.
Jo Ellyn Tucker says in a request for a restraining order that Tucker pulled $1.5 million without her consent. The still married couple were granted a mutual restraining order preventing “the dissipation of marital assets” last Thursday by a judge in the county, according to several Lansing media outlets. Jo Ellyn Tucker’s divorce complaint was filed with the court was filed on April 5.
In her petition for the restraining order, Jo Ellyn Tucker also alleges Mel Tucker withdrew all the money from his Michigan State University retirement accounts. She said he transferred them to an individual account that she has no access.
