KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – A short film about the unusual labels for Bell’s Brewery bottles and cans will make its debut Thursday in Kalamazoo.
The documentary “A Two Hearted Tale” celebrates the history of the iconic trout label adorning Bell’s Two Hearted Ale, as well as Ladislav Hanka, the artist who created it and other beer labels for Bell’s.
Directed by Rory K. McHarg and Bret Miller, the film premieres Thursday, May 2, at KP Cinemas at 1800 Portage St. in downtown Kalamazoo.
The producers say the 39-minute film was three years in the making. Ladislav and the two directors will be present at the premiere and participate in a post-screening question and answer session, according to Detroit-based production company Woodward Original.
The award-winning documentary was previously screened at Indy Film Fest and the Fresh Coast Festival, winning best feature at Fresh Coast. Future screenings will also take place at the Freep Film Festival in Detroit and the Capital City Film Festival in Lansing.
