GRAND RAPIDS, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Governor Whitmer says anyone in the state illegally should not have any access to state benefits.
She said that in response to a question in Grand Rapids yesterday about the Newcomer Residential Subsidy program, which critics like state House Minority Leader Matt Hall of Kalamazoo County have questioned.
Whitmer says the national border policy needs to be reformed, but responsibly.
Hall has been questioning the Whitmer administration for several weeks if people here illegally could get the $500 a month in rental assistance through the subsidy program.
