No injuries as garage on Alcott Street goes up in flames

KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – There were no injuries in a Tuesday afternoon fire that damaged a garage at a home in Kalamazoo.

At approximately 5:45 p.m. Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety officers responded to the structure fire in the 1100 block of East Alcott Street. There were visible flames coming from an unattached garage near the residence when they arrived.

KDPS says the fire was quickly knocked down from the exterior, limiting the amount of damage to surrounding residences. Fire crews were on the scene into the early evening Tuesday.

There were no injuries and the cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
