KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Consumers Energy will be making upgrades to the electrical system in Kalamazoo.
CEO Garrick Rochow was in Kalamazoo Friday to discuss the upcoming replacement of the Cooley Substation at 445 Willard Street with a new substation.
Work is already underway to move power lines underground in the city, and that will take two to three years.
Rochow says they want to reduce the number of power outages from weather to no more than 100,000 customers out of power and get them back online within 24 hours.
